The libraries are designed to encourage a love of reading and foster the learning of research skills. With a collection of over 15,000 titles each library functions as an information centre of the school. AGS libraries utilise the Destiny Library management system.
Follett’s Destiny is the leading school library management system for K-12 schools worldwide. The online library catalogue is accessible in the libraries and at home. Students and teachers are trained in its use. The following link allows parents, students and teachers access to the school library catalogue.
Libraries are open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Book borrowing takes place during these times with students also being able to borrow books during the morning break when the library is monitored by library club girls. Throughout the day the library is used by classes, small groups, and individual students. Students may come to the library in the mornings before 8:00 a.m. and after the 2:15 dismissal.
Students in Grades 1-9 may check out two books for a two week period. It is recommended that students check out one Arabic and one English book during their weekly library session.
