AGS Schools follow the Cambridge four stages, which lead seamlessly from primary to secondary and pre-university years. Each stage – Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced – builds on the learners’ development from the previous stage, but can also be offered separately.

 

Curriculum

AGS delivers the Cambridge International Curriculum to Saudi Arabian and international students, Grades KG – 11. It follows the Cambridge Primary curriculum from KG 3 to Grade 5, Cambridge Secondary 1 in Grades 6 to 8 and offers IGCSE classes for grade 9 to 11.

Cambridge IGCSE is recognized by leading universities and employers worldwide, and is an international passport to further education, progression and career success.

AGS uses the Cambridge approved student texts and teaching resources as well as other relevant published resources from other international curricula. This unique approach enables AGS to provide a truly international education and framework which is approved and recognized by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education.

*Student attainment is assessed at the end of each level of every Grade, and the school is moving toward awarding internationally recognized certificates to the students at year 6, year 9 and in the secondary level (OL & AL) offering access to many prestigious Universities in the world.

Teaching and Learning

The AGS teaching approaches encompass practical ideas for classroom activities, including active learning, assessment for learning and reflective practice.

The AGS pedagogical approaches encourages the teachers to use different ways of delivering particular lessons and also motivates the teachers to consider different learner styles. These enhance the students learning experience and develop the student’s ability to reflect on their own learning.

 

Assessments

AGS uses formative and summative assessment along with practical assessment techniques. This assesses the depth of subject knowledge, conceptual understanding, and the higher-level thinking skills of each student.

Extra-curricular activities

Besides an extensive and varied curriculum AGS provides many extra-curricular activities for its students, this contributes on building a sense of discipline, ethical behavior and healthy lifestyle as well as ensuring a well-rounded education that meets the overall needs of each student.

AGS offers a wide range of after school activities (clubs) such as football, chess, Lego robotics, Qur’an, Islamic practice, taekwondo, IT, volleyball, basketball, cooking, fashion design and badminton.

The wide-ranging extra-curricular activities are offered after the end of each school day. They take place from 2.30pm to 3.15pm. There are new activities introduced every term, so the students have variety of activities to choose from as well as the possibility to discover new hobbies and sports.

Students are invited to participate in these exciting and diverse school activities.
